I agree with Boyer's stance on the topic. I feel that Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) operates well as a "staging grounds" (meaning a place to start and evolve from) if you know where you are planning to go. I say this because this happened to me. Regarding my degree, I knew what I wanted to do; I was going to attend SLCC then transfer to Utah Valley University (UVU). My planned route, however, I don't know the steps to achieve this goal. Meaning that I was told false information by school advisers. So yes I feel that SLCC is an excellent "staging grounds" to help assist students in planning their higher education plans. However, employees at colleges that are in place to help plan out a student's routes to graduation need to know what they are doing so that they aren't costing students unnecessary time, effort, and money.
